This is a photograph of one of the most influential women in the Highlands that you will never have heard of……..

She was editor and owner of the Inverness Courier from 1952 to 1988, and between herself and her uncle Dr Evan Barron, editor from 1914 to 1965, they shaped the views of many Highlanders with their editorial comment on issues of the day, international; national and local. From whether the Highlands and Islands shoud have a university to the role of lairds, landowners and Big Business in the economy of the North, her views were clear and well argued.
